time bent in half

what is time
and what are we
why does it seem time passes slowly
slowly slowly slowly
when we are waiting
waiting waiting waiting
but for what
like an itch
waiting irritates the soul
anxiety creeps into the subconscious
we know not what happens to us in reality
as our perception of time is skewed by our own apprehensions
our hearts wait while our souls,
fatigued with nervousness,
long for an understanding of what we are truly waiting for
for the anxiety to pass
for our hearts to overcome famine
for the freedom of insecurity
so why wait
when time passes regardless of our apprehensions
time is warped by our worries
warped by the ignorance in our hearts
and the longing in our eyes
